Are you at risk for Karoshi? Find out

Dear nurse,

We’re diving into a topic that’s critical for all professionals, but particularly for those in demanding roles like nursing.

This week, we’re focusing on the importance of work-life balance and the risks of overworking.

First, we want to introduce you to a Japanese term, ‘Karoshi‘, which means death by overwork. Sounds scary, right? But it’s a real issue. Overworking can lead to a state of constant fatigue and serious health problems. Remember, it’s vital to take regular breaks and keep a healthy work-life balance.

Watch the short video below:

Secondly, not only can overworking lead to physical health problems, but it can also cause mental breakdowns. High levels of work-related stress can result in despair and significant mental health challenges. So, take care of your mind just as much as your body.

Finally, even though overworking can cause the body and mind to break down, your spirit remains untouched. The term ‘in spiritus‘ suggests a state of being inspired, filled with spirit. Keeping your spirit alive and inspired can help you cope with the pressures of overwork.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic.

How do you maintain a work-life balance? Have any tips to share? Also, feel free to suggest topics for our future newsletters. Stay healthy and inspired! In Spiritus.

May peace & love go with you wherever you go,

Love Annette And Team YogaNurse
